Publication Ethics
Publication Ethics
Journal of Information Technology and Information Systems Management (JITISM) is committed to maintaining high standards of publication ethics and integrity in scholarly publishing. All parties involved in the publication process, including editors, reviewers, authors, and the publisher, are expected to adhere to ethical principles and responsible academic practices.
Responsibilities of Editors
Editors are responsible for ensuring that manuscripts submitted to JITISM are evaluated fairly, objectively, and confidentially. Editorial decisions should be based on the academic quality, originality, relevance, and contribution of the manuscript to the scope of the journal.
- Editors shall evaluate manuscripts without discrimination based on the authors' personal or institutional background.
- Editors shall maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and related information.
- Editors shall not use unpublished information contained in submitted manuscripts for personal purposes.
- Editors shall disclose and appropriately manage potential conflicts of interest.
- Editors shall take reasonable action when ethical concerns or allegations of research misconduct are raised.
Responsibilities of Reviewers
Reviewers play an important role in assisting editors in making editorial decisions and helping authors improve the quality of their manuscripts. Reviewers are expected to conduct reviews objectively, professionally, and confidentially.
- Reviewers shall provide objective, constructive, and academically relevant comments.
- Reviewers shall treat manuscripts received for review as confidential documents.
- Reviewers should decline a review when they do not have sufficient expertise or cannot complete the review within an appropriate period.
- Reviewers shall identify relevant published work that has not been appropriately cited when reasonably identifiable.
- Reviewers shall disclose any potential conflict of interest that may affect their objectivity.
- Information obtained through peer review shall not be used for personal advantage.
Responsibilities of Authors
Authors are responsible for ensuring that submitted manuscripts represent original and responsible scholarly work. Authors must provide an accurate account of the research conducted and should not engage in practices that compromise the integrity of scholarly publication.
- Authors shall submit original work and appropriately acknowledge the work and ideas of others.
- Authors shall not submit the same manuscript simultaneously to more than one journal.
- Authors shall accurately present research data, methods, results, and relevant sources.
- All individuals listed as authors must have made an appropriate contribution to the work.
- Individuals who have made significant scholarly contributions should be appropriately acknowledged or included as authors where applicable.
- Authors shall disclose relevant financial or other conflicts of interest that could influence the research or its interpretation.
- Authors shall promptly inform the editorial team if they discover a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work.
Originality and Plagiarism
Authors must ensure that their manuscripts are original. Any use of the work, ideas, data, or words of others must be appropriately acknowledged and cited. Plagiarism, including substantial unattributed copying or other forms of misappropriation of scholarly work, is considered a violation of publication ethics.
Submitted manuscripts may be evaluated using plagiarism-detection or similarity-checking tools as part of the journal's editorial process. Suspected cases will be reviewed by the editorial team before an editorial decision is made.
Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication
Authors should not submit manuscripts describing substantially the same work to more than one journal at the same time. Submitting the same manuscript simultaneously to multiple journals constitutes unethical publishing practice.
Authorship and Contributorship
Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made a significant scholarly contribution to the conception, design, execution, analysis, interpretation, or preparation of the submitted work. All authors should approve the final version of the manuscript and agree to its submission for publication.
Conflicts of Interest
Authors, reviewers, and editors should disclose relationships or interests that could reasonably be considered to influence the research, review process, or editorial decision. When a relevant conflict exists, appropriate steps should be taken to ensure an independent and fair publication process.
Research Integrity
Fabrication, falsification, manipulation of research data, inappropriate image manipulation, and other forms of research misconduct are not acceptable. Authors are responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the research materials and information presented in their manuscripts.
Corrections and Retractions
When significant errors or ethical problems are identified after publication, JITISM may take appropriate editorial action. Depending on the circumstances, this may include publishing a correction, clarification, expression of concern, or retracting an article.
Handling of Publication Misconduct
Reports or allegations of publication misconduct will be examined by the editorial team. The journal may request clarification, supporting information, or other relevant documentation from the parties involved. Editorial action will be determined based on the available evidence and the nature of the issue.
